Better your best

Quartermile.app is an app of SPACE SQUAD in Berlin which I supervised as project manager and programmer.
With this app you can measure the performance of a vehicle of your choice with an iPhone and record it in different ways. 

This includes acceleration measurement – how fast you reach a certain speed – or an acceleration race e.g. to a quarter mile. Likewise, there is a comprehensive lap mode in which you can create courses, drive them and evaluate your lap times. 

The data is recorded with the GPS signal (CoreLocation) of the iPhone. However, due to the low frequency of the GPS signals, further calculations are necessary to ensure a more accurate recording. Among other things, this is done with the various motion sensors (CoreMotion) of the device at the start and at the finish.

The project management consisted of feature planning, scrum sprints and organization in relation to other projects. As a developer, my responsibilities included the recording logic, i.e. the different modes as well as the calculations at the start and finish line, and the optimization of the collected data. Accordingly, I learned a lot about the features and limitations of the CoreLocation and CoreMotion frameworks.

The app was built using UIKit, but extended with an MVVM architecture and Combine (Reactive Programming) to process the relevant data from the different managers and ViewModels in a clear and logical way.
